Culture and education are inherently interconnected. Increasing access to culture and education delivers social value to communities: creating a sense of place and belonging, community cohesion and supporting the socio-economic growth of an area. Cultural and educational institutions are rediscovering their role as local stewards, and the past few decades have seen a growth in meaningful community engagement and outreach.
Futurecity has worked with a large number of cultural and educational institutions, brokering studio and gallery spaces for the RCA, Chelsea College of Art and Design and Bow Arts and creating the conditions for the English National Ballet to move their rehearsal studios to a purpose-built facility in the heart of London City Island. We’ve also worked with local authorities to interrogate the changing nature of education in relation to town centre regeneration, creating the strategy for Croydon’s Creative Campus.
