The RCA Riverlight Award is an initiative that extends the St James partnership with the RCA, which initially saw the development of StudioRCA, a cultural hub at the heart of Riverlight within the Nine Elms on the South Bank regeneration area.

The awards programme was developed for St James Group by Futurecity, in collaboration with RCA sculpture tutor Kate Davis. It supported emerging contemporary artists from the Royal College of Art’s School of Fine Art to commission a series of permanent commissions at Riverlight. The programme run from 2013 through to 2017 selected and commissioned five students to realise unique, site-specific, permanent artworks for the residential lobbies at St James’ Roger Stirk Harbour+Partners (RSH+P) scheme. These lobby spaces have created a series of high-profile public gallery windows onto Nine Elms Lane and onto the Thames River Walk.
