The Sydney Culture Essays are a publication of the Committee for Sydney, with principal support from News Corp Australia. This essay series was launched by the NSW Premier, the Hon. Gladys Berejiklian MP at EY, Sydney on 18 April 2017. The Sydney Culture Essays came from the Committee for Sydney’s desire to understand, clarify and strengthen Sydney’s cultural identity and offer at a time of extraordinary transformation and growth.

Futurecity Sydney was commissioned by the Committee for Sydney to develop the concept for the Sydney Culture Essays, and to research, propose and help select contributors.

Once contributors were finalised, the team at Futurecity Sydney liaised with contributors and co-edited the essays. Futurecity collaborated with the Commitee for Sydney to produce and edit the essays and Mark Davy and Tim Jones contributed an essay to the publication titled “Sydney: City of Renewal”.

Futurecity Sydney also proposed a design concept, short listed designers and put together design briefs. Futurecity then supported the Committee on the design and production of the publication.
