Futurecity brokered a groundbreaking partnership between Hines UK and the Royal Academy Schools to deliver a ‘One Spirit Showcase’ urban gallery, photography scholarship and public art commission. The hoardings at One Grafton Street became London’s largest urban art gallery, displaying artworks submitted by RA students with the winning entry by Alex Knell in prime position. In addition Hines supported a Royal Academy Schools photography scholarship to document the development as it changed. Futurecity commissioned Tom Phillips RA to develop a permanent artistic legacy for the building. ‘Rail Diversions’ is a sculptural frieze that subtly complements the restored Mayfair facade.
