Public Artwork
2016
On an international and national level Futurecity commission major sculpture projects working with leading cultural partners. Progressive approaches to sculpture have seen public areas transformed into immersive socially engaged environments. Futurecity’s team of specialists and its innovative approach to commissioning identify opportunities for artists to realise visionary works both in the public and private sectors.
With a vast portfolio of site specific sculptures, Futurecity has delivered and proposed some of the UK’s largest public sculptures from the internationally acclaimed Slipstream by Richard Wilson RA, for Heathrow Airport’s new Terminal 2, the Queens Terminal to Mark Wallinger’s 50 metre White Horse for the Ebbsfleet Garden City.
Futurecity builds ‘galleries without walls’, using art, heritage and history as the vehicles to open public access to, and engagement with, the urban infrastructure and landscapes. At every scale, from one-off immersive experiences, to monumental permanent artworks, the propelling desire is to provide artists with major opportunities to work within a diversity of disciplines.
