Foyles is opening a new flagship bookshop in the lower half of the former Central Saint Martins building. Futurecity is working with Foyles, Aquila House Holdings Ltd and Noved Property Group to enhance the new development at 107 Charing Cross Road through bespoke arts commissions. This partnership resulted in the commission of a Central Saint Martin’s graduate to design a building wrap and a new gallery space inside Foyles to be curated by Futurecity. Rebecca Hendin’s piece All Paths Lead to Foyles was selected from a shortlist of 10 alumni of Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design BA (Hons) Graphic Design who competed to create a unique image for the 400 sqm dust-capture screen masking construction at 107-109 Charing Cross Road. Their illustrations celebrated the bookshop, the art school and each institution’s status as a cultural icon in the capital.
