BA and MA Art & Design Practice students at Bucks New University have been presented with a fantastic opportunity to create a proposal for a series of sculptural seats for the public realm of Wye Dene, High Wycombe.
Futurecity, the commissioners Berkeley Homes, Katie Tyssen, Arts Officer from Wycombe District Council and Andreas Lang of public works presented the Artist Brief to the students.
The commission objectives:
- Provide high quality, contemporary, outdoor public realm embedded artwork for Wye Dene and the residential community of the scheme
- Be inventive and contemporary and create sculptural seats that can become a cultural beacon for Wye Dene, which are embraced by the residential, and surrounding community
- Sculptural seats will be site specific, and respond to the environment (ecology and history) as well as the community of Wye Dene and its neighbours
The winning proposal will be selected in February and installed in the public realm of Wye Dene in November 2015.
Futurecity have been appointed by Berkeley Homes to develop and manage a series of public realm art commissions for Wye Dene, a new development in High Wycombe. Read more about the project here.
