The Forum is a ground-breaking 37,500 sq.m. new development comprising a postgraduate medical education centre with specialist surgical training facilities, a 900-delegate conference centre, a 198-bed hotel, a 93-bed private hospital, retail facilities and 225 parking spaces. The project will encourage additional investment in the CBC as it aims to become a leading global biomedical centre by 2020.
The Forum unifies hospitality, conference, education and healthcare to create a new building typology that will support the development of the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. It will provide a hub for clinicians, researchers and academics from across the world to share knowledge and expertise.
Futurecity have developed a full public art strategy for the scheme. Culture will make a high quality contribution across the public realm by integrating public art into the fabric of the scheme as an imaginative and engaging set of installations; permanent physical artworks developed by contemporary visual artist Matthew Darbyshire. Matt will work in collaboration with the nbbj, the schemes architects on artworks around the buildings entrances, and go on to develop work for the public realm in collaboration with CBC Lead Artist, Ryan Gander.
