In 2010 Futurecity and BOP Consultancy co-authored a strategy to support the funding application to the European Commission on behalf of CreArt (Network of Cities for Artistic Creation). CreArt is a European cultural cooperation project for the promotion of arts and creativity in second-tier cities across Europe. The bid was coordinated by the Fundación Municipal de Cultura of the City of Valladolid and Futurecity and BOP were appointed to set out a structure for the use and application of cultural policies, sharing ideas and good practice and developing joint working methods. Futurecity ran a series of talks, workshops and interviews with each of the partner cities. In 2012, the project was granted €1.7M (£1,432,349).
CreArt is now a solid network of 14 partner cities and institutions, representative of Europe’s cultural diversity and richness. The partner cities have hosted hundreds of events, talks, exhibition and residencies with the aim of gathering research and case studies for a “single cultural currency”.
