Sitting at the gateway to Nine Elms, close to Battersea Park is former Battersea gasholders site on Prince of Wales Drive. The redevelopment of this site offers an opportunity to increase connectivity and opening up spaces that have been previously inaccessible for over 100 years. Futurecity suggest a forward looking approach to activating the public realm through creative programming and artist commissioning. It will improve access so that the new south bank vision can extent to Prince of Wales Drive and Battersea Park and contribute to the continual evolution of the area from a marshland to an industrial hub to a cultural destination that will be appreciated internationally and locally.
