FuturePace artist Michal Rovner‘s “Perspective” in now on display at Selfridges London State of the Arts gallery, celebrating the power of public art. The exhibit showcases works by nine critically-acclaimed artists, each involved in creating a site-specific artwork at one of the new Elizabeth line stations, part of the Crossrail Art Programme.

Rovner’s triptych corresponds with the permanent work “Transitions” that she is set to present at the Canary Wharf station.

”I hope that my work in this place, seen by millions of people, will remind them that the time that they take for granted, going from one place to another, and the space between is actually very meaningful.” – Michal Rovner

In 2010, Futurecity was appointed to develop a visionary art commissioning strategy for Crossrail, originally described as the ‘Culture Line’. The proposal was for a permanent world-class, line-wide art programme across Crossrail’s 7 new central and east London Elizabeth line stations. Today, 9 artists are working with Crossrail to create 10 works of public art that will be integrated into 7 of the new Elizabeth line stations to create a unique exhibition that reflects the ambition of London’s newest railway and the communities it serves. Great to see a sneak peek of the final outcome at Selfridges!

Other artists on display are Darren Almond, Yayoi Kusama, Douglas Gordon, Simon Periton, Chantal Joffe, Richard Wright, Spencer Finch, and Conrad Shawcross, with whom we had the privilege to work on the ‘Optic Cloak‘ commission for Greenwich Peninsula in 2016.
