Between 2016-2017, Futurecity were appointed by the University of New South Wales Art + Design to develop a new consortium connecting Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums in Sydney. Following a year-long program of workshops, talks and provocations developed by Futurecity with UNSW Art + Design, Sydney Culture Network was established. The conversations and exchanges that took place through the workshop series focused on ideas for members of the GLAM + Alliance to connect beyond and outside of their walls.

Sydney Culture Network was launched in October 2017 with the principle aim of connecting the best of culture, education, business and technology in the city. The network includes leading arts, educational and cultural institutions, businesses and technology enterprises of all sizes. This important group is one of few in the world which brings together arts organisations, cultural institutions and academics to collaborate to ensure that culture is at the heart of Sydney’s growth.

In its work through the development of the network, Futurecity focused members on their key role in defining the value of culture, and to enhance the international profile of Sydney as a place of creativity and ideas.
