In recent years, a combination of social and technological changes have brought about a paradigm shift in workplace innovation. Futurecity developed a set of Placemaking Principles for Chiswick Park, an exemplar of outer London business parks, to form the underlying building blocks for future investment.
These principles are a set of interlocking ‘big ideas’ that will influence every aspect of the park’s development from ‘hardware’ (e.g architecture, infrastructure, landscaping) to ‘software’ (e.g technology, thought leadership, and member programming). Guided by these, Futurecity also developed several project recommendations to demonstrate that Chiswick Park is a leader in future work-placemaking. The resulting strategy describes how new work, workplace, and locality trends are changing the game. It offers a series of recommendations about how the business park can adapt and maintain its commercial success, creating a framework to release the “Chiswick Park 2.0” of the future – a place which is conversant with, and demonstrably effective in relation to, current workplace-making and business innovation trends, and able to sustain its activities and reputation to these trends in the long term.
