In 2016, Futurecity was commissioned to develop a Cultural Strategy for the Australian Technology Park (ATP) in Sydney for Mirvac.

The Futurecity team commenced with a detailed analysis of project intentions, in order to understand aspirations and priorities for the development. The Futurecity team then undertook a comprehensive cultural audit of the neighbourhoods bordering the site, which have the highest concentration of creatives in Sydney, along with a rich industrial and indigenous heritage. ATP sits at a key point of intersection for the city and the development creates an important opportunity to connect communities to the south of Sydney into the central business district.

The strategy brought together this research, supported by global case studies, data scanners of local neighbourhoods and a history of the site. The research then fed into a series of proposals and approaches for programming and activation both within ATP’s buildings and within the wider precinct. The strategy provided practical recommendations for the on-going stewardship of the site and identified strategic and community partners for on-going programming opportunities.
