Heart of London Business Alliance (HOLBA) appoints Futurecity to develop Arts & Culture Strategy. HOLBA serves as a voice for 500 businesses and 100 property owners in the Piccadilly & St James’s and Leicester Square areas.
Ros Morgan, Chief Executive, Heart of London Business Alliance, says: “We have selected Futurecity for their proven strategic record of strengthening the identities of cultural districts, their ability to align diverse stakeholders in order to develop a common vision, and a track record of delivering ambitious art projects in major city centres.”
Exceptional arts assets will communicate a shared vision. The Strategy will consider moments and campaigns shared by Leicester Square, Piccadilly Circus, Haymarket District, St James and Piccadilly, as well as spotlight each area in imaginative ways.
Mark Davy, Partner, Futurecity, says: “HOLBA represents an exceptional cross-section of civic, commercial and cultural representatives in Central London to inform a bespoke Arts and Cultural Programme that speaks to the challenges facing global city centres.”
An initial installation will launch the Arts & Culture Strategy, focusing upon Piccadilly. Highlighting its presence as a great avenue that has many ‘stops’ between Green Park Station to Piccadilly Circus, the event will be commissioned as a collaboration with artists. Look out for an announcement in early spring 2020.
Sherry Dobbin, Partner, Futurecity, says: “My experience developing the public art programmes and strategies for areas with rich and new cultural assets such as New York’s Times Square, London’s Exhibition Road and Wembley Park will inform how we consider what will excite the arts and culture community while being true to the authentic and distinctive assets of the area.”
