Friday 7 November 2014, 09:00 – 18:00 (registration from 8.30)
The Oval, Kennington, London SE11 5SS
Nine Elms on the South Bank is at current one of London’s largest opportunity area, developing fast, with key schemes already on the ground. Futurecity, which have developed a placemaking strategy for One Nine Elms, sees in the area an opportunity to create a new cultural district for London, reconnecting the community with the ideals of its heritage and creating a public space to discover new sustainable agendas, new thinking on urban realm design, and new connections.
Culture creates interesting and authentic experiences and helps define places, acting as a catalyst for the activities, which frequently enliven established streets and squares. One Nine Elms must be dynamic, visionary in approach to activating the urban realm through culture and entertainment– ultimately seeking to create a connected, animated, exciting, intriguing, attractive place where people want to live, work and visit.
Futurecity sponsors the NLA on Location session where local authorities, planners, architects, developers and key stakeholders in the area will provide an update on development and planning progress in the area and also look at what this major new area for London might look and feel like as a place in the future.
The morning conference will be followed by a networking lunch and afternoon walking tours of key developments, led by developers working in the area. Futurecity will lead a cultural tour.
Speakers include: Cllr Ravi Govindia, Leader, Wandsworth Council; Cllr Lib Peck, Leader, Lambeth Council; Mark Davy, Founder, Futurecity
