New London Architecture’s year-round programme examines all sectors of London’s built environment from housing to commercial development, regeneration to infrastructure, as well as major areas of opportunity across the capital.

A carefully curated mix of research, events and exhibitions provides comprehensive coverage of the issues affecting London’s changing physical environment.

This October, Futurecity will be sponsoring an NLA On Location conference looking at key issues for the South Bank area.

‘Is the 1000-year old dominance of the North Bank of the Thames over the South Bank coming to an end as development brings new jobs, commercial space and homes south of the river?’

This central stretch of London’s river, from Canada Water to Battersea, is undergoing huge change. With major plans afoot for Canada Water, Blackfriars Mile coming along apace, clusters of tall towers starting to emerge around London Bridge, Waterloo, Blackfriars and Vauxhall, work progressing on Battersea Power Station and plans for new river crossings moving forward, what is the future for this area? Have we got a clear enough vision for this major stretch of the Thames? Are we producing the best piece of city we can here and is this the right thing for London?
Mark Davy will join a number of leading figures in the industry to discuss these questions and more during the morning. The conference will then be followed by a networking lunch and afternoon walking tours. A team from Futurecity will be attending, and we all look forward to our involvement in this significant event.
