How do talents find new ways to emerge? How do you capture visionary and radical new creative expressions? Who do you think are the new creatives?

Taking inspiration from the ‘Inferno: McQueen’ exhibition opening next week at The Gallery at Foyles, Futurecity is calling for your ideas on #newcreativesWho would win your vote as the next emerging talent? Covering all disciplines, who are the #newcreatives – designers, artists and artisans – capturing the pioneering spirit of Alexander McQueen in their work?

The forthcoming exhibition ‘Inferno: McQueen’ opening at the Gallery at Foyles next week reveals a singular moment in the designer’s career. When Alexander McQueen showcased his early collection ‘Dante’ at Christ Church Spitalfields in 1996, he was a recent Central Saint Martin’s graduate who was destined to challenge and fundamentally alter notions of beauty through the lens of contemporary fashion. Photographer Kent Baker, a member of McQueen’s intimate circle of friends, was in a unique position to capture an emerging creative force in an electric moment.

At Futurecity, we are constantly striving to spot and support new creatives. Our aim is to discover, nurture and progress the next generation of talents, focusing on artists, designers and creative practitioners that work across different disciplines and explore new pathways, at the crossroads of art, science and design. Alexander McQueen’s collaborations with creatives and craftsmen from different disciplines, such as glass blowers and metal workers, were fundamental to his design genius.

Your choice might be a young artist, furniture maker, architect, designer, jeweller, digital collective or photographer. We’re not only interested in fashion designers, but in imaginative, innovative creativity across all disciplines. We would like to see designers, artists and artisans who produce work that captures the pioneering spirit of Alexander McQueen in their chosen field.
