‘Bits of the world blow towards him and come apart on the wind’ by Jennifer Tee is a permanent artwork embedded within The Marque’s Podium public realm. The artwork is composed of a large wall “drawing” and inlaid “floor pieces” that incorporate elements and motifs drawn from Tee’s research across Cambridge into the relationship between the universality of nature, design, domestic space and decoration. It draws on the city’s museum collections including Cambridge University Herbarium and The Fitzwilliam Museum. The artwork aims to complement The Marque’s designed geometric white screen (itself designed through a collaboration between the architect of the original building design and artist Michael Tuck). ‘Bits of the world..’ invites residents, the local community and visitors into this new public space at the heart of the scheme.
