We are delighted to be part of the team shortlisted for the design competition for Croydon Fair Fields public square together with Martha Schwartz Partners, Tyrens UK, AKT II, PLP Architecture, Commonplace, Habidatum, Light Bureau, The Fountain Workshop Limited, Shape and Etm Associates LLC.

The tender process will select a ‘bold and innovative’ proposal to overhaul the large prominent public square and create ‘one of the most exciting public spaces in London’. Mark Davy, Founder of Futurecity, says: “Cities, their economy and personality, are changing fast. Work and life is being transformed by the digital economy, globalisation and automation. Croydon has all of the places, people, creativity and innovation of this new world.”

The competition is a great opportunity to help physical projects in Croydon meet the aims and aspirations of the borough. Futurecity recently developed the Vision and Narrative for Croydon Creative Campus, launched by the council at MIPIM 2019. The Campus is a proposition to make Croydon a centre of excellence for future life long learning, anticipating the future of work by creating a range of services and partnerships to deliver the skills of the future. It envisages new types of online and physical spaces and places for learning. Fair Fields public square is a key public amenity that can become a central platform for the talent and creativity of Croydon’s residents.
