Services: Cultural Placemaking, Mixed Use, Strategy

Futurecity has developed a Culture and Placemaking Strategy for a new mixed-use development in Paddington. North Wharf Gardens will complete the jigsaw of developments that make up Paddington Waterside, offering a prime location for creative industry workspace, in the old buildings prior to demolition and in the new commercial space. Futurecity’s strategy looks beyond the red line to build an identity for North Wharf Gardens that relates to the culture, community and creative economy of the locality as well as the history of the site. The strategy identified the threat to the creative industries in Westminster and the shortage of workspaces, outlining opportunities for new networks, arts commissions and an affordable creative industry workspace that will will harness Westminster’s thriving creative business sector and generate economic connectivity for people in the local community. If implemented, the strategy North Wharf Gardens will connect to other hot spots in the north of the borough such as Great Western Studios.

"The ambition for North Wharf Garden is to create an outward facing development that responds to and connects with its locality."
