For the inaugural exhibition at the new Gallery at Foyles, Turner Prize-nominee and Central Saint Martins alumnus Mark Titchner has created a unique single artwork – a monolith to the poetic resonance of the word. Employing industrial vinyl graphic manufacturing processes usually limited to street advertising, Titchner works with a computer to craft an elaborate interplay of historical fonts, marquetry and geometric tracery which is printed direct to the vinyl.
Mark Titchner lives and works in London. He has exhibited in numerous national and international group exhibitions including the 52nd Venice Biennale in 2007 and the British Art Show in 2006. He was nominated for the Turner Prize in 2006 and was Artist in Residence at the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto in 2012.
